JREM Entertainment is proud to present a solo concert of Arnel Pineda, of the American rock band “Journey” at the Roy Thomson Hall on Friday, July 30, 2010, 7:30 p.m.

Arnel is a talented, musical sensation from the Philippines whose singing career span 25 years in Asia plus 2 years to date in the U.S.

He started as lead singer with Ijos Band in 1982 and since then he had been involved with 7 rock bands: Ammo (1986), Intensity Five (1990), New Age (1990), 9mm (2000), South Border (2001), Most@Wanted (2004), Zoo (2006) and in 2007 with the “Journey.”

Among one of the most notable accomplishments, with Ammo participating the Yamaha World Band Explosion, Arnel won the Best Vocalist award and the band came in as first runner up.

In 2007, Neal Schon, Journey’s lead guitarist, came across the video of Arnel. He watched in amazement as this young man from the Philippines performed “Faithfully,” one of Journey’s biggest hits, with the same passion and intensity as Journey’s original lead vocalist, Steve Perry.

The band members agreed to fly Arnel to San Francisco for an audition. After years of searching, Journey finally found its new lead singer. Not only has Arnel perfected that Steve Perry sound, he’s also reignited the soul of a band whose journey had stalled. Arnel gives all the credit to his mother, a woman who believed in him long before he believed in himself. “I think it’s her voice that carried me all through this pain that I’ve gone through,” he says, “She’s always been my biggest influence.”

When Arnel Pineda started his first tour with Journey in March 2008, he had another journey in mind – to give smiles and hope to the needy children of the Philippines with whom he had a deep understanding and connection.

While on tour last summer despite his hectic schedule, he was focusing on a more fulfilling goal – to form a charity foundation. Even before finishing his 69 successful tours in Chile, Europe, and here in the US, Arnel felt that there was one more important task he needed to accomplish – he wanted to give back. With that, the Arnel Pineda Foundation has its roots. With Arnel Pineda, Glenda Bule, Merlita Helms and Raul Montante, M.D., as founders, they finally made this happen on his birthday on September 5, 2008. The Foundation’s mission is “to provide essential needs that every child deserves and to help provide a safe environment where children can learn, grow, and achieve.”

Journey’s first album with Pineda, Revelation, debuted at No. 5 in the Billboard Top 200 album charts in the week following its release (released June 3, 2008), and remained in the Top 20 for six weeks. It was certified gold by RIAA with more than 336,000 units sold within the first few days.[16]. It achieved platinum status by October 1, 2008.

On February 1, 2009 he performed with Journey at the Super Bowl XLIII Pregame Show.
Arnel has three sons, Matthew (20 years), Angelo (12 years), and Cherub (3 years). When he’s not on tour with Journey, he returns to Quezon City, Philippines, where he lives with his wife, Cherry, and their children.
